Gilles ARCENS

Born in 1962, Gilles ARCENS is a French composer, arranger and conductor.

Biography

Trained at the National Conservatory of Music of Toulouse from 1978 to 1985, he secured a 1st prizes for saxophone and chamber music in 1982 and 1st prizes in harmony, counterpoint and music theory in 1985. Between 1987 and 1988, he studied film music composition at the École Normale de Paris under Laurent PETIT-GIRARD and Antoine DUHAMEL, and also Big Band composition at the CIM in Paris.


From 1986 to 1992 he taught saxophone, chamber music, harmony, counterpoint and music theory at the Conservatory of Andorra la Vella (Principality of Andorra). At the same time, he was a member of the TETRASAX saxophone quartet, touring and performing extensively with them and exploring an extensive repertoire of classical and contemporary compositions for this type of line-up. Since 1992, Gilles ARCENS has been composing and arranging music for various TV shows.

His compositions include many pieces for wind sections, symphony orchestras, chamber ensembles, brass bands and big bands.
