THE STORY OF IMD

The history of IMD (International Music Diffusion) is closely interwoven with that of its founder, André Cotelle. Professional trumpeter, graduate of the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, the transmission of his passion is one of the cornerstones of his life. In the 1980s, he began publishing by reprinting the trumpet bible, the Arban method.

The musiqual edition, the scores of IMD

Very quickly, he extended his editorial line, devoting publications to other families of instruments but also to concertos, studies and, above all, works of young contemporary composers, in order to give them the opportunity to see them played and thus promote their music, reveal their talent.

IMD also collaborates with prestigious soloists such as Philippe Cuper, Jean-Marc Volta, Catherine Michel, Jacques Mauger... Renowned ambassadors who manage their own collections, helping to enrich the French musical heritage and make it shine around the world.

International know-how

If French excellence is at the heart of its know-how, IMD is also resolutely focused on the international market with its publications in five languages: English, French, Spanish, German and Japanese.

IMD, a family story

Still owned by the Cotelle family, which makes it live with an intact passion, IMD has continued to expand its catalog, which today counts more than 1500 works for winds, brass, strings and percussion.

In more than forty years, IMD’s primary ambition has not changed: to find and publish new musical gems.
