Philippe Gaillard (born in 1958) is a musician of many facets. He studied the piano in several music conservatories. He also honed his skills on the bassoon playing with Maurice Allard and Gilbert Audin. Meanwhile, he approached improvised music with François Jeanneau at the Paris CNSM and turned to composition and orchestration at Paris' École Normale de Musique (training college for music teachers).

As a composer, he has written works for voice, piano and instrumental ensembles, but also for the stage (poetic and photographic shows) and for short films. His works have been performed at the Festival d'Avignon, the Festival du Périgord and the Printemps des Poètes. He teaches bassoon and musical training in the music conservatories of the Val d'Yerres.
