BIOGRAPHY

After completing an apprenticeship as a polymechanic and obtaining a maturité fédérale (high school leaving certificate), he devoted himself to his musical studies and entered Pierre Pilloud’s class at the Haute Ecole de Musique in Geneva in 2007.


In 2010-2011, he left to study at Helsinki’s Sibelius Academy under Petri Keskitalo. In 2013, he secured a Master of Arts in music performance at Geneva’s HEM and that same year was appointed principal tuba at the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra. He then decided to complete his musical studies at the Sibelius Academy and secured a second master’s degree in music in 2015.


In addition to his orchestral activities, Nicolas is active with the Helten Brass dextuor and the Raiku brass quintet on period instruments. He also performs with the contemporary orchestra Avanti!, and performs as a guest with various symphonic ensembles in Finland. Since 2021 he has been teaching at the Turku Conservatory and Music School.
