Biography
Won 2nd prize in flute at the Paris CNSM under Henri Altès.
He became 1st class military music chief until 1927, notably in the 145th Infantry Regiment and the Artillery School at Vincennes, and composed mainly for wind instruments, notably his famous Bolero for Clarinet (dedicated to clarinettists in the army), originally published by Evette & Schaeffer (Buffet-Crampon) in Paris, and his new practical method for the clarinet, published by E. Gaudet in Paris.
L. Blémant died in 1934.
This Bolero was recorded by Pierre Lefevre (soloist of the Opéra-Comique, the Concerts Lamoureux and the Garde Républicaine), with the composer conducting.
