BIOGRAPHY

Yuliya Viktorovna Lebedeva was born on March 27th, 1966 in Karaganda. She graduated from the Tuttimbet Music College in 1982 and entered the department of musical history at the Alma-Ata Conservatory.

From then on, she dedicated herself to composition, initially in the idiom of song. Her excellent defence of her final thesis received high praise from the State Committee. Yuliya has worked extensively for Kazakh television. The considerable impact of her early public recitals enabled her to work with such distinguished Kazakh performers as R.Rymbaeva, N.Iskalieva, M.Zhunusova, L.Kesoglu, B.Isaev or A.Nurmagambetova. In 2002, she joined the Composers' Union of Kazakhstan and began to collaborate actively with the orchestras of Alma-Ata. To date, she has composed numerous works, including some for orchestra.

 

Yuliya Lebedeva’s music is characterised by crystal-clear, attractive melodies, and is rooted in the folk traditions of both the Kazakh and Russian peoples.
