Voted « best newcomer », classical category, in 2004 by the ADAMI, Jérôme Laran has quickly established himself as one of the most talented saxophonists of his generation.

BIOGRAPHY


Trained at the Conservatoire de Paris, he won a prize in saxophone (magna cum laude, first rank) in 2002 (Claude Delangle's class) and another in generative improvisation, and was then accepted into the postgraduate cycle.
Supported by the Sasakawa and Meyer foundations, he was the laureate of the Cziffra Foundation, then scholarship laureate of the Société Générale's Mécénat Musical association.


He was unanimously awarded first prize at the International Saxophone Competition in Luxembourg (2000), going on to distinguish himself at such international competitions as the A.R.D in Munich (2001), Adolphe Sax in Dinant (2002), etc.
Meanwhile he kept performing all over Europe (at Berlin's Philharmonie, Paris's Cité de la Musique, Salle Gaveau and Musée d'Orsay Auditorium, Geneva's Victoria Hall), in China, Canada and Japan (Tokyo Bunka Kaikan, Opera City, Partenon Tama).
He has also performed as guest soloist with the Orchestre National de Chambre de Toulouse, the Itinéraire Ensemble, the Wallonie Royal Chamber Orchestra, the Orchestre des Lauréats du Conservatoire, the Filarmonie Boruslav Martinu of Zlin (Czech Republic), and more recently with the Radom Chamber Orchestra (Poland).
He has also participated in many festivals : Pablo Casals in Prades, Festival d'automne in Paris, Les Transclassiques, Voix Nouvelles in Royaumont, Musica, Why Note in Dijon, Ars Musica in Brussels, the Tokyo Summer Festival and was appointed artistic director of the « Rencontres Musicales de Capvern » in the Hautes-Pyrénées region.
He teaches saxophone at the Aulnay-sous-Bois CRD (conservatoire à rayonnement départemental) and frequently gives Master Classes in Europe and Asia.
