Jean-François MICHEL

Born in 1957 into a musical family, Jean-François Michel studied music at the Academy of Fribourg (Switzerland) between 1965 and 1976.

BIOGRAPHY

He won a bronze medal at the Geneva International Music Competition in 1975. He was solo trumpeter in the Munich Philharmonic from 1976 to 1986, when he was appointed professor at the Academy of Fribourg.

He performs as soloist, plays chamber music and teaches master classes in Europe, Japan, Brazil and Argentina.

Due to his success as a composer, with works performed and recorded on all continents, he has increasingly focused on his activities as composer. His artistic vein and expressive authenticity are evident in the wealth of his catalogue of works, which freely ranges from contemporary to the most popular styles, along with a stimulating educational output aimed at students.

Jean-François Michel has composed numerous works for renowned soloists and ensembles, as well as for international competitions (Porcia, Geneva, Markneukirchen).
